Management Accountant - CEMACH Central Office, Baker Street

Salary range: Circa £30k (pro rata) - 2 days a week

We are a busy but friendly team dedicated to carrying out research projects and clinical audits with a view to improving health outcomes for mothers, babies and children.  We are currently an autonomous unit with the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecologists but on 1 July 2009 will become a charitable company limited by guarantee with the new name of Centre for Maternal and Child Enquiries (CMACE).  As a result we need to develop our financial systems and are looking for an appropriately qualified and experienced person to be our management accountant.  Your duties will include dudgeting and preparing financial information for management. 

Turnover is currently £2m and we have 35 staff.  You will need to enjoy working with non-financial professionals.  We pride outselves on being a family-friendly employer. 

Purpose of Role

To provide a budgeting, costing and financial management reporting service to CEMACH. 

Main Duties and Responsibilites

  • Preparation of annual budgets
  • Preparation of cost schedules when tendering for new work
  • Preparation of cost schedules in business cases
  • Preparation of monthly management accounts statement showing actual income and expenditure against budget for review by the SMT and the board
  • Preparation of cost accounts for projects and contracts, including the NPSA contract, showing actual expenditure against estimated specific to that project or contract
  • Management of the finance function in the absence of the Head of Resources
  • Supervision and support for the accounts assestant as necessary
  • Other duties as required to fulfil the purpose of the role
