Child Death Data Collection

Project summary: Since April 2008 all Local Safeguarding Children Boards (LSCBs) have been required to collect information on and review the deaths of all children in their area, as outlined in Working Together to Safeguard Children 2006 (Chapter 7). CMACE provides services to a number LSCBs to assist them to meet these responsibilities.  In offering these services, CMACE draws on a long history of collecting data and conducting confidential case reviews in the area of maternal and perinatal mortality and more recently, child mortality.   
 
The services offered include:
  • Receiving notification of deaths
  • Collection of core data as mandated by the Department for Education
  • Providing copies of data forms prior to Child Death Overview Panel meetings
  • Data entry into a web based, secure database designed by CMACE
  • Production of periodic reports of number of deaths and completion of adta foirms
  • Production of an annual report on all deaths
