Data protection and Section 60
CEMACH has been given Section 60 approval under the Health and Social Care Act 2001 by the Patient Information Advisory Group (PIAG). This Act enables the Secretary of State to support and regulate the use of patient confidential information in the interest of patients or the wider public good. CEMACH's approval allows NHS organisations to disclose identifiable patient information to CEMACH without the consent of the patient concerned while remaining within the confines of the Data Protection Act.
