Why Children Die: An Interactive Workshop

Workshop Aims
- To describe the key findings of the CEMACH Child Death Review report 'Why Children Die: A pilot study'
- To encourage participants to consider and plan ways in which they can implement the recommendations of this study
- To review whether the CEMACH report provides any insights into the local implementation of the statutory guidance issued in Working Together
- To provide a written report, on an anonymous basis, of actions suggested both for individual practitioners and organisations. This report provides a record of the workshop with the aim of supporting local action
- To provide post-workshop review of implementation of local actions
Objectives
- To encourage participants to consider their response to the findings and recommendations of the 'Why Children Die' report
- Using anonymised extended case reviews, illustrate the recommendations and explore the delivery of clinical care and the organisations of safeguarding locally
- Consider the actions required by both individuals and organisations on the recommendations for children's services in their area
- Provide an opportunity for professionals working ina variety of roles to share their perspectives and expertise in caring for children

- Primary and secondary healthcare professionals providing care to children
- Those working within LSCBs or contributing to safeguarding children
- Health service commissioners and risk managers responsible for children's services
